One of Las Vegas' most critically acclaimed female trios, Lisa Smith (soprano); Margaret Menzies (mezzo); and Karen Michaels (alto), are known for their spectacular blend of powerhouse vocals and delicious harmonies. The group's popularity is also predicated on their ability to navigate through the timeless music of yesterday and an eclectic mix of Broadway, jazz, contemporary pop, rock, and even country.

In short, they reinvent or "curvify" everything they sing. Each of these fair ladies bring to the group their own distinct personalities and strengths, proving that one can stay true to who they are as individuals, while working together to create something even greater. Beyond simply performing, Dangerous Curves believes in the strength of self and the beauty and empowerment of women, no matter their age, shape, size, or position in life.

Eric Marienthal, Scott Martin, Hans Zermuehlen, and Andrew Carney were instrumental in helping me bring my love of many musical styles together to create this CD, along with the great production provided by Reggie Ashley. It is a fusion of all the music I have studied and played. My major influences have been the great lyrical musicians:

Wes Montgomery, Johnny Smith, Chet Baker, Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Bill Evans, Jim Hall, Carlos Santana, etc…I finally had to do a record to release all the melodies that have been floating around in my head for years. Once the melodic doors have been opened by players like the ones I mentioned, there is no turning back. These musicians were the inspiration for this album. I hope all you listeners can get just a fraction from this CD of what was given to me by all the greats.

NUTTY JAZZ

Welcome to the world of Nutty, where eight swank jazzniks stroll among the classic rock archives, fueled with a martini mix of straight-ahead jazz, big band swing, crime jazz/spy jazz, atomic lounge, Latin, bebop and some film/TV soundtrack jazz just for added kick...that is, kicks.

So dig: the band was formed by Sonny Moon (Joel Hile) and Guy Wonder (Mike Werner), who met in an earlier jump blues project called Chase Lounge and the Lazy Boys. Sonny was steering the band toward a lounge jazz sound, and Guy's addition to the band cemented the jazz transformation. The band then became nutty, and so became Nutty, and the Moon/Wonder collaboration focused on jazz renditions of familiar classic rock songs. Next thing you know, the music evolved into a catalog of derivative interpretations of pop/rock hits, using jazz music as the canvas. Who'da thought?

Todd Ashley

Todd Ashley was born in Encino, CA and grew up in Palos Verdes. Unlike most young musicians who were inspired by rock or punk guitarists, Ashley found inspiration in the playing of Pat Metheny, Pat Martino and improvisational music.. Upon graduating from high school he spent a few years playing and touring with several SoCal rock & funk bands before settling into Musician's Institute where he earned a degree from Guitar Institute of Technology.

If you ask him why he plays, he'll reply "music is my passion and I'm really lucky to be doing it for a living" and that the best part about being a full-time musician is that he "doesn't have to have a day job (knock on wood)".
